The 2018 EU-Australia Leadership Forum, a cornerstone of the EU-Australia Leadership Forum project, will take place in Brussels in November, 2018.

Emerging Leaders Forum |18 – 22 November

The event will commence on 18 November with the 2018 Emerging Leaders Forum reception. The Emerging Leaders Forum supports young and energetic professionals, politicians, academics and policy makers from both Australia and Europe to engage in discussions around the future of the EU-Australia relationship.

Fifty young leaders from Europe and Australia, aged 35 years and under, have undergone a rigorous selection process to participate in the prestigious program. After two days of professional development and discussion, the emerging leaders will be joined by close to 100 recognised leaders from Australia and EU Member States for the final days of the program.

Senior Leaders Forum |20 – 22 November

The Senior Leaders Forum will bring together key European and Australian Leaders from government and opposition, business, media, education, science and civil society to engage in high-level discussion to help shape the future relationship between the EU and Australia. The Forum will commence with a Gala Dinner and keynote address by former European Council President, Mr Herman van Rompuy.

Ms Federica Mogherini, the High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice President of the Commission, will open the first plenary session of the Senior and Emerging Leaders Fora.

In addition to plenary sessions, senior and emerging leaders will participate in roundtable discussions on topics such as challenges to the international rules-based order, current dynamics in Western democracies, women's leadership, digitalisation and data protection, space cooperation and industry 4.0.
